Seasons of the Soul:  Gratitude
    by Lisa M. Billman, M.S.

The ever changing cycles of nature parallel those of your soul.  You plant ideas,
nurture them, and then surrender…a critical step in the co-creative process.  Some of
your ideas flower and ripen.  Others slowly fade away.  The time then comes to reap,
to gather.  It is easy to be grateful for an abundant harvest but much more difficult to
accept less than what you have desired.
One must remember that what you choose to focus on in life is what you create.
When you focus on what you are grateful for, you bring more of these experiences
into your life.  When you focus on what you lack, you perpetuate a self-fulfilling
prophecy of deficiency.
A practice of appreciation and gratitude, of being a mindful steward of your thought
process and subsequent responses to life, helps you to make peace with this
contrast.  It allows you the opportunity to garner a harvest of the heart and mind as
you consciously chose to focus on what is good in every moment.  When you are in
the mode of appreciation, you flow with the tides of change releasing the need to
resist as you align yourself with the magical, mystical essence of nature itself.  You
trust in the process and understand that all is in Divine order.
