- Biofeedback: techniques that enhance mental awareness of the
body's vital functions to develop better patterns of physical reactions,
particularly in response to stress.
- Chiropractic: manipulating the spine to improve the transmission of
nerve impulses from the brain through the spinal cord to all the parts
of the body. See Healing & Bodywork and Animal Practitioners.
- Chakra (shock-ra): meaning "wheel" in Sanskrit, chakras are
energy nodes in the body that can appear as spherical whirlpools or
vortices. The major chakras are aligned along the central part of the
body, and each chakra is associated with a particular gland or
nervous plexus. A person’s health can be affected if energy (chi)
does not flow easily through the chakras. Chakra balancing is the
clearing of energy blocks from the chakras.
- Chi or qi (chee): a Chinese term for the invisible life force energy
that flows through the body in pathways called meridians intercepting
all the bodily organs. Chi is also called ki in Japanese and prana in
Indian.
- Complementary Healthcare: therapies that are usually not part of
mainstream Western medicine but can be used in combination with
conventional medicine.
- Cranio Sacral: a form of bodywork that uses gentle pressure on the
skull to release restrictions in the cranio sacral system. See Healing
& Bodywork.
