• Biofeedback:  techniques that enhance mental awareness of the body's vital
    functions to develop better patterns of physical reactions, particularly in
    response to stress.


  • Chiropractic:  manipulating the spine to improve the transmission of nerve
    impulses from the brain through the spinal cord to all the parts of the body.

  • Chakra (shock-ra):  meaning "wheel" in Sanskrit, chakras are energy
    nodes in the body that can appear as spherical whirlpools or vortices.  The
    major chakras are aligned along the central part of the body, and each chakra
    is associated with a particular gland or nervous plexus.  A person's health can
    be affected if energy (chi) does not flow easily through the chakras. Chakra
    balancing is the clearing of energy blocks from the chakras.

  • Chi or qi (chee):  a Chinese term for the invisible life force energy that flows
    through the body in pathways called meridians intercepting all the bodily
    organs.   Chi is also called ki in Japanese and prana in Indian.

  • Complementary Healthcare:  therapies that are usually not part of
    mainstream Western medicine but can be used in combination with
    conventional medicine.

  • Cranio Sacral: a form of bodywork that uses gentle pressure on the skull to
    release restrictions in the cranio sacral system.  See Healing & Bodywork.
