Boneyard Arts Festival Events at Beads N Botanicals on April 17

    Lampworked Beads Demonstrations: See how basic glass beads are formed using
    the ancient art of flameworking. Beads are made in the fire of a torch as you watch. Very
    little of the techniques used today are new; they are, in some cases, as ancient as the
    Phoenicians and ancient Egyptians. Beads have been part of human culture since we
    became human.

    Athan Chilton has been making jewelry and forming glass beads for many
    years in the Urbana area.  Friday, April 16: 2pm-3pm. April 17: 11am-12noon, 1pm-
    2pm   Cost: FREE.

    Rattle the Boneyard: Community Drum Circle- Bring a drum, rattle, instrument or
    just clap your hands. Beads N Botanicals is hosting a drum circle as a part of the Boneyard
    Arts Festival. Cost: FREE. From 2 pm-3:30pm  April 17, 2pm to 3:30pm

    The Trikhala Bellydance Troupe, made up of University of Illinois undergraduate and
    graduate students, will perform their style of tribal fusion dance-- a mixture of American
    tribal-style bellydance, traditional ethnic bellydance and contemporary dance styles such
    as hip-hop—at Beads N Botanicals. Come watch them dance and dance with them. April

Recycle, Repurpose, Reuse: Making Paper Beads: Great ways to recycle old magazines
and other paper into new art. Basic techniques for making paper beads for jewelry, beaded

Making a Wand for Healing and Focus: Work with crystals, wood and other natural
materials to make a wand that you can use to focus your intent for positive changes in your life
and surroundings. All materials provided (although you can feel free to bring special crystals or
other decorative materials.  Cost: $25 pre-registered by April 24, $35 at the door and after April
24.

Dreamcatcher Workshop: Let’s Make A Dream Catcher. Marlita (Rainbow Buffalo) will
lead this workshop. You will use your vision, energy and creativity to make your own dream
catcher and decorate it the way you desire, while learning the history and application of this
sacred medicine.
             All materials will be provided. However, if you have special beads, feathers, animal hide
or hair with which you wish to decorate your dream catcher, bring them. If you choose to gather
willow or grapevine from Nature, gather it in a Sacred Way. Address and give thanks to each
direction - The Creator, Mother Earth, the East, the South, the West and the North. Give a tobacco
and Cornmeal offering to the plant, and now cut your branch.
             There will be an optional Pipe Ceremony before the workshop. (starting at 12 noon,
available to workshop participants only) It is traditional to gift the Pipe Carrier with tobacco,
sweetgrass, cornmeal, beads or some token of thanks and respect wrapped in red cloth. (money
is unacceptable)
             COST: Adult: $65. Child accompanied by a paying adult $15. Elder: (65 yrs +) $45. Please
pre-register and pay for this workshop by May 8th to guarantee your place in this workshop.
